This page explains what information SideKita collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and what you can do about it. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed — kung may hindi malinaw, email us.
01Who we are
SideKita is a Philippine platform that connects customers who need small physical tasks done — store checks, price checks, mystery shopping, house checks, video tours, and similar errands — with independent taskers who complete them for a fee. SideKita is the "personal information controller" for the data described here, in the language of the Data Privacy Act.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at kenneth@sidekita.com.
02What we collect
We only collect what the platform actually needs to work. Here is the full list.
If you are a tasker
- Account details: your full name, email address, and mobile phone number.
- GCash number: so we can send your earnings to you.
- Profile photo: only if you choose to upload one.
- GPS coordinates at the moment each task photo is taken. When you capture a photo for a task, the app records your device's latitude and longitude and the time at that exact moment, and attaches it to the photo. This is how we prove to the customer that the evidence was captured at the stated place and time.
- Photos and videos you submit as task evidence, plus your checklist answers and notes.
- Your device location while you browse the task feed, if you allow it. We use it only to sort tasks by distance from you and to show "1.2 km away". If you decline, the feed simply shows the newest tasks first.
- Task history, ratings, and earnings records: which tasks you accepted and completed, how customers rated your work, your wallet balance, payouts, and cash-out requests.
If you are a customer
- Account details: your full name and email address.
- Task details: the title, instructions, deadline, photo requirements, and the location (name and map pin) of every task you post.
- Payment records: the amounts you paid, platform fees, and payout status for each task.
Everyone
- Login session: a secure cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on the platform.
- Waitlist email: if you joined our pre-launch waitlist, your name and email address.
03How we use it
We use your information for these purposes and nothing else:
- Matching taskers to nearby tasks — your feed location tells us which tasks are close to you.
- Verifying task evidence — the GPS coordinates and timestamps on your photos let the customer confirm the evidence was captured at the stated location, at the stated time.
- Processing payouts — crediting your wallet when a task is approved and sending cash-outs to your GCash number.
- Fraud prevention — detecting falsified photos, faked locations, duplicate accounts, and payment abuse.
- Platform safety — screening task instructions against a blocklist, handling disputes, and keeping both taskers and customers safe.
- Support — answering your questions and fixing problems with your account or tasks.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
04Who can see your data
Customers see
A customer who posts a task sees everything submitted for that task: the photos and videos, the checklist answers, the notes, and the GPS coordinates and timestamps attached to each photo. They also see the tasker's first name and rating. They do not see the tasker's phone number, GCash number, email, or home location.
Taskers see
Taskers see the task title, instructions, location, payout, and deadline. Taskers do not see the customer's contact details — no email, no phone number. If a task needs coordination, it happens through the platform.
SideKita staff see
Our staff can access account records, task evidence, payment records, and messages when needed for customer support, dispute resolution, fraud investigation, or to comply with a lawful order. Access is limited to people who need it for that purpose.
Everyone else
Nobody. Your data is not public, and we do not share it with data brokers, advertisers, or other companies except the service providers listed in section 06.
05Where your data is stored
SideKita's database, file storage, and login system run on Supabase, and our Supabase project is hosted in Tokyo, Japan. This means your personal information — including your task photos and GPS records — is stored on servers outside the Philippines.
Cross-border transfer notice. Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, this counts as a transfer of personal data outside the country. By using SideKita you consent to this transfer. Supabase protects the data with encryption in transit and at rest and is contractually bound to use it only to provide the service to us. We remain responsible for your data wherever it is stored.
Task photos and videos are kept in a private storage bucket. They are never publicly accessible — the only way to view them is through a time-limited, signed link generated for the customer who posted that task or for SideKita staff.
07How long we keep it
- Task evidence (photos, videos, GPS coordinates, checklist answers, notes) is kept for 2 years after the task is completed. This is so either side can raise or defend a dispute, and so we can investigate fraud. After 2 years it is deleted.
- Account data (your profile, contact details, GCash number, task history, ratings, and earnings records) is kept for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it — except for payment records we are legally required to keep for tax and accounting purposes, which we keep only for as long as the law requires.
- Waitlist emails are deleted when you unsubscribe or within 12 months of launch, whichever comes first.
08Your rights
Under Republic Act No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the right to:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — fix anything that is inaccurate or out of date, such as your phone or GCash number.
- Object — object to how we process your data, including for purposes you did not expect.
- Erase — ask us to delete your data, subject to the retention rules in section 07.
- Data portability — receive your data in a common, machine-readable format.
- Be informed — know what we collect and why, which is what this page is for.
- Complain — file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission if you believe your rights have been violated. You can reach the NPC at privacy.gov.ph.
To exercise any of these rights, email kenneth@sidekita.com from the address on your account. We will respond within 15 working days. There is no charge.
09Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use SideKita as a tasker or a customer. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
10Changes and contact
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For changes that matter — new data we collect, new ways we use it, or new companies we share it with — we will also email you before they take effect.
